Trinity Conference: A New Season, New Name
In a move to reflect growth and spirit-filled connection with member churches across Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, the Eastern Texas Conference of the Global Methodist Church will become known as Trinity Conference as of January 1, 2024.
Announcing the Prayer Team
Crissie Chenette and Jan Floro are heading up the new Conference Prayer Team.
Resurrection Brings New Life to Katy Methodists
Resurrection Methodist Church is a fitting name for the newest congregation to welcome members into the Global Methodist Church. Resurrection, as it is known to its founding pastor, is a new church start congregation meeting at Katy High School in Katy, TX. As with many of the new Global Methodist Church starts, Resurrection claims a strong heritage of former United Methodists who have left their former congregations to join in the new Global Methodist Church movement. Rev. Jason Smith, the founding pastor, is the former senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, Katy, which failed to reach the threshold of 66% at a congregational vote to disaffiliate. Rev. Smith, along with many of his former congregation, answered the call to start a new congregation in the GMC.
Convening Conference day 3 - An Historic Day for Methodism
History was made today at the Eastern Texas Conference Convening Conference as 90 men and women were ordained in what is believed to be the largest class of ordinands in the history of the Methodist movement. These new pastors will serve in churches, hospitals, and other ministries across east Texas and Louisiana. It was a fitting conclusion to the conference, which recorded several historic marks in the annals of Methodism.
Convening Conference day 2 - “Wake Up and Stay Awake”
“We need to wake up, and stay awake,” admonished Rev. Heather Sims to begin an historic day in the Eastern Texas Conference. Over 250 clergy, lay representatives from the over 250 GMC congregations across east Texas and Louisiana, as well as many guests joined together for the inaugural business session of the Eastern Texas Conference. It was a day of new beginnings and renewal that ended in a celebration of Communion for the first time as a Global Methodist Church conference.
Convening Conference day 1: “Let us Go to the Other Side”
“To borrow a quote from John Wesley, ‘I felt my heart strangely warmed.’” This was the sentiment expressed by many to describe the initial gathering of clergy and lay representatives from the over 250 churches of the Eastern Texas Conference. The Convening Conference is the very first meeting of the Eastern Texas Conference, which has churches throughout east Texas and Louisiana. This conference is a time of worship, fellowship, workshopping, visioning, and celebration.
Looking for a Campus Ministry? Here are our recommendations.
The Eastern Texas Conference is excited to announce recommendations for six campus ministries throughout Texas and Louisiana. These campus ministers are endorsed by the conference and lead ministries that align with the theology and values of the Global Methodist Church.
Bishops Jones and Webb to Lead in Historic Conference and Ordination Service
With the start of 2023 comes an era of new beginnings for Methodist churches across east Texas and Louisiana. As of January 1, the Eastern Texas Conference of the Global Methodist Church (ETXGMC) has officially formed. The ETXGMC is a regional body of the Global Methodist Church (GMC), comprised of former United Methodist Churches and clergy who have left their former denomination over long held theological differences, along with several new church starts across the region. Led by President Pro Tempore Jim Welch, the conference has organized with over 250 churches and over 230 clergy.
