Disaster Relief & Redevelopment

Conference Network Now Forming

Disasters are inevitable. As all the Global Methodist Churches throughout the USA and around the world are growing well into the thousands, we need to maintain diligence to the disasters that come in all forms. We need to be prepared to help both when and where they occur.

The Transitional Commission on Evangelism, Missions, and Church Planting of the Global Methodist Church is focusing on several areas of mission and ministry in our early days. One of the areas the commission is addressing is how the Global Methodist Church will steward the gifts and graces of our movement in the area of Disaster Relief and Redevelopment.

The Rev. Linda Davis who serves Boynton Chapel Methodist Church in Texas in the Eastern Texas Provisional Annual Conference is a member of this commission and has been appointed to chair a sub-team on Disaster Relief and Redevelopment.

Her sub-team has reached out to conferences to supply local coordination efforts while at the same time connecting globally with that which calls for a universal response.

We are excited to announce that the Rev. Terry A. Lindsey, who serves both Vacherie and Houma Methodist Churches in Louisiana, has accepted a call to join this sub-team to lead the Eastern Texas Conference's effort. He is working to establish a network of churches within this conference that currently have standing-by disaster relief programs within their church. His role in this disaster and redevelopment response is stewarded by this conference’s International Ministries Team chaired by Rev. Jon Thornsbury.

Rev. Lindsey would like to connect with your church to establish an ETXGMC network of churches. Even if your church does not have a local program please don’t hesitate to establish a line of communication with his team. He can be contacted at terry.a.lindsey@charter.net.

Remember, disasters are inevitable, and preparation and connection are the best preemptive measures for minimizing the extent of redevelopment that follows.
