Global Methodist Church Plant Opens in Central Houston
Houston, TX -July 17, 2023
Central Houston Methodist Church is pleased to announce its soft launch on July 16, 2023 as part of the Global Methodist denomination. This newly formed church serving Methodists inside the 610 Loop marks a significant moment for the local community and the Methodist faith worldwide. By planting this new church, the denomination demonstrates its dedication to fostering a strong Methodist presence in central Houston and its commitment to serving the community.
Central Houston Methodist Church aims to embody the core values and teachings of the Global Methodist denomination whose mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Guided by the principles of John Wesley, this new church endeavors to create a welcoming space for all individuals seeking to deepen their Christian faith and connection.
The inaugural service was led by interim pastor Reverend Dr. Henry Everitt with music by Joshua Moore, formerly of Caedmon’s Call. "We are thrilled to begin this journey as part of the Global Methodist denomination," shared Dr. Everitt. "Central Houston Methodist Church began as a grass roots movement organized by laity in response to promptings by the Holy Spirit, which gathered 56 for our first Wesleyan worship service Sunday. We welcome anyone who seeks a historical expression of Methodism to join us as we embark on this spiritual journey together." Dr. Everitt will serve as interim until a permanent pastor is appointed. At that time an official launch of Central Houston Methodist Church will be celebrated.
