Convening Conference day 3 - An Historic Day for Methodism

History was made today at the Eastern Texas Conference Convening Conference as 90 men and women were ordained in what is believed to be the largest class of ordinands in the history of the Methodist movement. These new pastors will serve in churches, hospitals, and other ministries across east Texas and Louisiana. It was a fitting conclusion to the conference, which recorded several historic marks in the annals of Methodism.

The Eastern Texas Conference (ETXGMC), in joining together in the Convening Conference, became the largest conference of the Global Methodist Church in number of congregations, number of ordained clergy, and geographical size. At this Convening Conference, it appointed 7 pastors to new church start congregations, also believed to be a record in number of church starts for a new Global Methodist Church conference. The ETXGMC has over 250 member congregations, over 250 clergy, and stretches from just east of Austin and Waco and all of Louisiana.

The Eastern Texas Conference encompasses over 250 Global Methodist Church congregations served by over 250 clergy throughout east Texas and Louisiana. To find a congregation or to learn more, visit etxgmc.org
