2024 MISSION TRIPS

Here is a growing list of Conference-wide opportunities to serve people in the name of Jesus Christ.

RIO BRAVO, MEXICO | JUNE 2–8, 2024

Led by Dardanelle Methodist Church | Dardanelle, Arkansas
Open to any person or church who would like to participate.

We will be forming teams for medical, construction, VBS, sewing, evangelism and book distributions to elementary schools.

You do not have to be a member of one of our churches to go on mission with us.  What we do expect is Christian behavior, and a can-do attitude because we represent our Lord as we serve our neighbors in Mexico.  All ages are welcome to come with us and can find something useful to help with.  Adults who cannot load themselves in and out of 10 passenger vans should pass on this trip as it is the most basic physical requirement for safety.  Children and youth under 18 may go with us with these requirements: All children and youth must be accompanied by at least one parent and have both parents signatures on a notarized authorization for their participation.  We can accommodate up to 30 people on this trip.

Our travel will be to meet on Sunday, June 2 and travel across the border to the mission site.  The accommodations and food are more than adequate.  We will begin our work Mon through Thursday.  Friday will be a tour day with opportunities for a visit to an orphanage, some shopping, and a tour of work sites around the city.  We will depart at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8 for a return to the McAllen, TX airport.  If you drive to South Texas, you can park at the airport for a reasonable rate.

Cost of mission per participant will be $750 payable to Dardanelle Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Dardanelle, AR 72834.  This excludes your own travel arrangements to meet us at the McAllen, TX airport lobby by 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 2.  Some may want to share rides as plans develop to save costs.

Mission money and forms (forthcoming as you contact me) will be due no later than May 1, 2024.  Our mission expenses will cover all van rentals to take us into and back from Mexico, individual medical & emergency insurance, food and stay at the Manos Juntas mission, and goods expended on mission.

Each mission member must have a valid US Passport with an expiration date no earlier than December 31, 2024. I am always excited to see what God will do as we go and place ourselves in our Lord’s service.

UTILA, HONDURAS | JULY 6–13, 2024

Led by Wesley Methodist Church | Beaumont, Texas
Open to any person or church who would like to participate.

You are invited to join members and guests of Wesley Methodist Church Beaumont on a trip to Utila Honduras this summer, July 6-13, 2024.  Our church has an ongoing, two decade long relationship with this community.  We have several opportunities for service and will set aside some time for play.  We will partner with the Methodist church and their school for some projects and with the municipality for others.  The projects chosen depend on who signs up and their skills.  If we have the personnel, we can do any, all, or any combination of these tasks that have been suggested thus far:  construction – plumbing, wiring, maybe drywall, maybe flooring, some carpentry in a new building; light classroom and building remodeling and fix up -- installation of fixtures, building shelves; teaching or tutoring; reading; generally assisting in a clinic; medical wellness checks; compassion home visits; church or school Bible based work with kids and youth and some adults, from assisting church and school workers all the up to Sunday school and Bible class teaching and preaching.

We are budgeting travel, lodging, food, and project expenses at $2800 per person.  We prefer that participants be 21 years of age or older.  We will consider younger participants if they are accompanied by a responsible parent.  We will finalize plans for the trip between April 1 and April 15 based on the people who have committed to join us.  The trip is limited to 18 people.

For more information or to join the trip, contact Dana Timaeus.
